Nicola Orr


Nicola has spent the last 15 years working with owners and managers in SME organisations helping them to review HR structures and implement appropriate processes to make their organisation run more efficiently. Nicola is a pragmatic and proactive HR generalist, with strong commercial understanding gained across a wide range of industries, in UK and international environments. Her approach is always client-focused; taking time to get to get to know the business and employees, and understanding that ‘one-size does not fit all’ when it comes to HR.

Nicola’s career in HR was launched on the back of her 10 years’ experience working for research agencies – specialising in international, consumer and employee research.

Peter Taylor


Peter Taylor is co-founder and Managing Director of HR Circle. He has over 20 years’ experience as an HR Director in the corporate world, most recently in the tax, finance, bio-tech and life science sectors. Having run large-scale in-house HR functions, he has now turned his focus to developing the HR Circle helpdesk team bringing a blue-chip quality approach to all our clients.

He has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Westminster, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Mike Payne

Board Advisor

Mike is Board Advisor and brings with him a wide range of commercial experience, challenging the team to think more creatively and strategically about the services HR Circle provides today and in the future. Mike has worked in both small as well as some of the largest global companies giving a deep understanding of the challenges that businesses face in effectively managing and supporting their staff.

Mike lives in Hertfordshire and is a keen fisherman and follower of current affairs.

Abi Bartholomew

Ops Manager

Abi joined the team in the beginning of 2020 to oversee the office management and operations. Her administrative and organisational skills keep the business on track. In her first six months as Operations Manager, Abi has already upgraded our IT, implemented a state-of-the-art Service desk system and managed the launch of our new website.

In her spare time, Abi enjoys planning road trips abroad and exploring the local countryside with her dog, Oscar. She is also a keen baker, helping to supply home-made treats at local charity events.

Richard Edgerton

Recruitment Specialist

Richard brings a wealth of industry experience with 20+ years’ recruitment knowledge with a strong agency and HR In-house background.

Prior to his career in recruitment he was a senior manager for two blue chip FTSE100 companies where he worked in HR, Business Development, Operations and Marketing.

A recruitment technology evangelist, Richard’s passionate about people and finding ways to improve the recruitment journey for both clients and candidates alike.


Amanda Burgess

HR Manager

Amanda joined HR Circle in September 2021 as our HR Officer. As an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development after completing her Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management, Amanda has over 6 years of experience within the HR industry bringing a wealth of knowledge to the team.

In her spare time, Amanda loves to bake, spend time with her two children and enjoys family trips and holidays.

Megan Wagnall

HR Administrator

Megan joined HR Circle in November 2020 as our Apprentice. Since joining the team Megan has helped answer queries, participated in projects and has expanded her knowledge of HR. Megan is an organised individual and a valued member of the HR Circle team.

Megan successfully completed her A levels in English Literature & Language, Health & Social Care and Photography. In her spare time, she enjoys taking scenic photographs, playing guitar and taking long walks in the countryside.

Megan will qualify in March 2022 with her level 3 CIPD and level 3 HR support and is then hoping to begin level 5 CIPD. The team are very proud of Megan and her achievements – congratulations! 

Rob Varcoe

Executive Coach

Rob is an Executive Coach, specialising in Leadership and Career coaching. Rob established his own Coaching business in 2016 to focus on his passion for developing people, and for the last 4 years has worked with many individuals and businesses in multiple industry sectors. He trained as a coach with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and is a certified practitioner of Leadership development tool The Leadership Circle Profile, as well as a licensed Firework Career coach.

Prior to coaching, Rob spent over 20 years in Senior HR leadership roles across Technology, Financial services, and most recently Advertising and Marketing. He is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.


Rob Clark

Talent Acquisition

Rob has 20+ years of recruitment and executive search experience, predominantly working with start-up and scale-up, and enterprise technology firms.

Ellie Geeson

HR Administrator

Our newest team member, Ellie, joined our team in February 2022. Excited and enthusiastic to develop her career within HR, Ellie is taking her first steps by joining HR Circle as an apprentice.

Ellie has recently completed 2 A-Levels in Psychology and Sociology and a Business BTEC at a local school in Harpenden. Outside work, Ellie enjoys crafting, spending time with family and friends and taking her dog for walks.
